The Perfect German Language Academy is a licensed telc examination center. You can register with us for the telc Deutsch B1 language test within the registration deadline. In addition, Perfekt Deutsch offers B1 intensive courses and B1 evening courses for participants who want to take the telc German B1 language test.

When do I have to be in the Perfect German Examination Center on the day of the exam and what do I have to bring with me?
After you have registered for the telc exam, you will receive a detailed schedule by email a few days before the exam.

- Please come to school on time on the day of the exam.
- You must have your photo ID or passport with you.

Who is the telc B1 exam for?
The telc B1 exam checks language skills at level B1 and is aimed at everyone who has a basic knowledge of German and would like to obtain proof of language skills, e.g., for naturalization in Germany. The telc B1 exam is also suitable for people who want to study or do an apprenticeship in Germany and need proof of their German language skills. At some colleges and universities, the telc B1 certificate is an admission requirement for various English-language courses and as an application requirement for German-language courses.

What is the telc B1 exam?
The telc B1 exam is an internationally recognized language test. The telc B1 certificate is recognized both in Germany and by many public institutions abroad.

How is the language test telc Deutsch B1 structured?
The telc B1 exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written exam lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes.
- Reading and language modules 90 minutes
- Listen 30 minutes
- Written expression 30 minutes
The oral exam lasts approx. 15 minutes (after 20 minutes of preparation) and usually takes place on the same day.

Can I use a dictionary at telc Deutsch B1?
No.

How is the exam graded?
The exam is passed if at least 60% are achieved in both the written and the oral part. That means you have to achieve at least 180 points. This corresponds to 135 points in the written test and 45 points in the oral test.

When do I get the telc certificate?
The examination is evaluated centrally at the telc headquarters in Frankfurt am Main. As soon as Perfect Deutsch has received the certificates, we will inform you (usually approx. 4-5 weeks after the exam date) by email. Then you can collect your certificates at the Perfect German Examination Center during office hours on presentation of your photo ID.

Can the certificate also be sent to me? Also abroad?
– Shipping is possible but must be paid for on the day of the inspection (domestic € 10, within the EU € 20). Outside the EU, we only send the certificates via express delivery (DHL) for a fee of € 90.

Can someone else pick up my certificate?
– With a signed power of attorney and a copy of your identity card, you can have the certificate picked up by someone you trust. The person must also have ID with them.

How long is my telc certificate valid?
Your certificate for a passed telc exam is valid indefinitely.

Can I repeat the exam?
Yes. You can repeat the telc B1 exam as often as you like. If you only failed the oral or only the written exam (subtests 1–4), the relevant part of the exam can be repeated up to the end of the calendar year following the exam.
