A1 course →  Dates & Prices

The course A1  is aimed at participants who have little or no knowledge of German. It teaches basic communicative skills that quickly allow participants to exchange information about themselves or others (for example their age, profession, place of residence, family, or hobbies).

In addition, the course A1  foregrounds communication in situations of everyday life. The participants learn, among other things, to fix appointments, to give and to understand directions, to shop for food, to order in a restaurant, to extend invitations and felicitations, to describe their daily routine, to express consent or disagreement, to make suggestions and to make simple phone calls.

The course A1  introduces the means for various communicative structures with the help of texts and audio material and practices and consolidates elementary grammatical structures through dialogue and role play.

The aim of course A1  is to communicate on an elementary basis in most prevalent everyday situations and to read as well as to compose simple texts.

The course A1  is designed as an intensive course of 5 classes for 45 minutes a day. It takes approximately 8 weeks and consists of 200 hours of teaching.

Levels A1 to C1 correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

A2 course →  Dates & Prices

The course A2 is aimed at participants who possess the level of knowledge of the “beginners” course. This means participants are capable of communicating on an elementary level in ordinary everyday situations that concern familiar topics and areas of personal interest. Building upon the “beginners” course, this course expands the communicative skills already acquired, consolidates the knowledge of elementary grammatical structures and extends them to include all basic grammar.

The course A2 focuses thematically on the following topics (among other things): studies and professional life, family relations and friendships, the media, modes of cultural behaviour, travels, the environment and nature. The presentation of these topics takes the form of reading and audio texts. The vocabulary of the participants is systematically expanded through exercises in reading and communication as well as through exercises in producing written texts. The teaching materials used are aligned with the demands of this course.

The main aim of the course A2 is to further develop the communicative skills already acquired. The participants learn to deal with most everyday situations verbally as well as to communicate about topics that go beyond personal issues and to express their opinion on those topics in spoken or written form. After passing this course, the acquired skills correspond to level A2 of the “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages”.

The course A2 is designed as an intensive course with 5 classes for 45 minutes a day. It takes approximately 8 weeks and comprises 200 hours of teaching.

Levels A1 to C1 correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

B1 course →  Dates & Prices

The course B1 is aimed at participants who possess the skills of the “elementary” course. This means that they have command of the grammatical structures and know the corresponding vocabulary (A2 GeR).

Specifically prepared and original academic texts as well as other material from various disciplines form the foundation of the B1 course . The main focus is on different (i.e. global, selective, detailed) strategies of both reading and listening. Diverse methods will be taught to comprehend unknown vocabulary. The newly acquired vocabulary will be practised extensively through discussions and the composition of individual (argumentative) texts dealing with the topics at hand. With regard to grammar, the course will introduce more complex structures of the German language such as constructions using participles as well as Conjunctive I.

The main aims of the course B1 are the acquisition of various reading and listening strategies, the comprehension of texts of intermediate level of difficulty, discussions about the central topics of the course as well as the composition of coherent individual texts. After passing this course the partipants will have reached level B1 of the “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages”.
